Ireland - a place that many associate with amazing landscape, greenness, warm welcoming people and a way of life including plenty of stout. This is exactly what you get when visiting this country, but then why is it that many people do not even consider leaving the capital Dublin?

If you ask me..definitely get out and about when you are in Ireland, and experience what I saw on my trip to the West!

The West of Ireland is still a secret hint from adventure traveler to adventure traveler, the non-masstouristificated place to go in the country. Achill Island with its mystic mountain ranges and its stunning cliffs (no, here you don't have to pay six quit per person like at the Cliffs of Moher) is one of the true discoveries you can make on your trip. Keem Beach on Achill was one of the most amazing places I have ever been. To get to Achill I recommend the Greenway, a new cycling and hiking path connecting Westport to the island.

I do recommend staying in Westport, which is the gateway to the West of Ireland scenery. You are at the tip of hiking an cycling routes, you are just minutes away from the foot of the mountain Croagh Patrick, which by the way is a must-climb when you are in this area. The town provides you with all facilities if you need to stock up on necessities or even gifts for the loved ones at home. Most importantly the town has a truly Irish pub scene with plenty of traditional music sessions. Mat Molloy's would be the most famous pub in the town, but I recommend to check out Hobans pub for the traditional music sessions.

Accommodation wise Brooklodge Bed and Breakfast is the place to go. Not only is the B&B of high qualitative standards, but the host was exceptionally friendly and provided me with the best recommendations of places to see and eat in.

So after all, I can say I have see the REAL Ireland, and if you asked me, I would go back anytime as there is loads more to see and do.
